Mapannapolis

Telling the story of an exiled people through digital maps

Mapannapolis is a volunteer-led historical society based in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. The group creates digital "storymaps" that document the region’s heritage buildings, historic sites, graveyards and churches. With a special focus on the history of the Acadian people — their settlement, displacement and enduring culture — Mapannapolis brings the past to life through location-based storytelling.

Half Twelve was commissioned to revamp the Mapannapolis brand, beginning with a new logo that merged a quill and a digital map pin — a symbol of where storytelling meets geography and where history intersects with modern technology.

We also created a new website that showcased the storymaps. Designed to be intuitive and mobile-friendly, the site allowed visitors to explore the region’s heritage interactively and learn more about the people and places that shaped Annapolis County.
