Comeau Comfort Systems

Guiding consumers towards a greener future

After two decades trading as a general HVAC business, Comeau Refrigeration wanted to reposition themselves as specialists in the growing residential heat pump sector and commissioned Half Twelve to guide them through the rebranding process.

With the business shifting its focus from B2B to B2C, we recommended beginning the rebrand with a name change. ‘Refrigeration’ made way for ‘Comfort [Systems],’ putting the tangible benefit of heat pumps at the forefront.

Unlike some of their industry peers, CCS saw their work as a vocation — driven by a strong commitment to green thinking and a clear goal of becoming a Net Zero company. For an HVAC business, the path to carbon neutrality was largely uncharted and felt daunting. They understood that for many customers, the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy felt just as uncertain.

Drawing on the theme of journeys, we positioned Comeau Comfort Systems as a “companion to a greener future.” Visually, we combined the recognizable forms of air ducting with road markings to symbolize the customer's journey towards sustainability with CCS as their guide. This was paired with a warm, reassuring brand voice that that balanced experience with empathy.

At the heart of the refresh was a revamped website designed to guide customers through every stage of the heat pump journey. The updated brand messaging was further supported by social media content, tailored to the interests of each audience — from homeowners exploring clean heating options to industry peers seeking insights on sustainable business practices.
